Rural property inventory of Ovid Township and villages of Ovid and Shepardsville, ca. 1935-1942.

This record group consist of the rural property inventories for Ovid Township and Shepardsville in Clinton County, Michigan for the years ca. 1935-1942. The collected data contains information describing the land; buildings; fences; crops; woodlands; means of communication; sources of heat and light; number of school districts; legal land descriptions; village or township location; name and address of person assessed; and amount of acreage within certain classifications. Sketches of houses and general land areas are included. Valuations placed by Board of Review are occasionally included. Ovid Township was organized in 1840. The village of Ovid was incorporated in 1869. The village of Shepardsville was platted as Shepard's Station in 1856, and the Rochester Colony was organized as a settlement in 1836, platted as Mapleton in 1837, and changed names to Duplain in 1844.
